MARTABAK TELUR : Indonesian Omelette with a Richer Taste

Omelette, who doesn't know about this dish?

With eggs as it's main ingredient, everyone loves it. Some people says that Omelette is originally from Persia, and some other says it is from France. I can't say which one is the right statement but, Hey! have you ever try Martabak Telur?

 

Martabak Telur is basically an Omelette with a super-rich tastes. It is totally different with Persian Omelette which has tomatoes in it, nor French Omelette which looks super pale with no filling in it.

So, what makes Martabak Telur diferrent and has a richer taste than the Persian and French Omelette?

1| Outer Layer

If Persian and French Omelette use the egg it's self as the outer layer. It is totally different with Martabak telur. Martabak telur use a high protein flour- dough as it's outer layer. So yes, it will take more times to make a Martabak Telur.

2| The Filling

Martabak Telur has various mixture fillings inside, which are ;
  • Chicken Egg or Duck Egg
  • Minced chicken meat or beef
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Leek
Some people says, Martabak Telur which use Duck Eggs as the ingredient is taste more delicious.

3| The Texture

Since it is use a high protein flour- dough as it's outer layer, the texture is unique. It is crispy outside when you bite the outer layer, and juicy inside right after your tongue touch the egg.


Martabak Telur will be more delicious if you eat it with some pickled cucumber, chili or tomato sauce, or even a green chili. 
So, how? You can imagine the taste, right now?

Where to get Martabak Telur?

If you are in Indonesia, Martabak Telur is sold at night as a street food. It is so easy to get Martabak Telur around you. I mean, of course you can make it by yourself by following the hundred recipes on google. But, nah i don't think you have enough time for the process. For me, i better buy it directly to the "abang-abang" or just order it on Grab or Gojek which are apps like Uber. 

With just 2 euro, you will get a fresh from the pan of Martabak Telur with pickled cucumber and the chili sauce in one pack.
And trust me, the taste of Martabak Telur that you made by yourself and the one you buy at "Abang-abang" will taste totally different. Of course there are a secret recipe, right? Just as Mr. Krab try so hard to hide the Krusty Krab's recipe from Plankton, huh?
